La Recoleta Cemetery is located in Recoleta neighbourhood in the city of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. Approximately fourteen acres in size, it opened in 1822 and is considered one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world. Given my interest in genealogy, my husband and I toured the grounds when we travelled throughout South America. According to our guide, there are more than four thousand vaults and countless marble mausoleums. I hope you enjoy the photographs.
