Marianne is a member of the Sault Writers’ Forum, a local writing group that meets monthly from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Robert Downes, a playwright and the centre’s Visitor Experience Manager serves as the group’s coordinator.
Discussion topics included the writing process, handwriting versus computer when drafting novels, keeping track of ideas in notebooks, daily journalling, and publishing concerns.
Members read aloud a portion of their work-in-progress. Writing included: poetry, scenes from a movie script, a short story, and the first chapter of an early draft of a book. Other members then offered feedback.
